Do you need Dexion racking?

Dexion racking is a term often used to describe many different pallet racking systems, when in fact Dexion is just one of at least twenty pallet racking manufacturers currently available in the UK. Almost all of these warehouse racking systems are unique and not compatible with any other, so if you are looking to add to the racking that you already have, it is important that you get the right type.

Industrial racking made by popular brands such as Apex, Redirack, Link 51 and PSS will usually have the name stamped on the upright frames, but if your racking doesn’t, there are other ways to identify the pallet racking you have. Our Identify My Racking page shows many of the leading pallet racking systems, the shapes of the beam connectors and holes in the frames should help you pick out the one you need to match your existing racking. If not, if you can send us a clear, close up photo of your racking (similar to those on the identify my racking page) we will be able to tell you which manufacturer your racking is made by.

Once we know what make of warehouse racking you need, we can start to look at the sizes and quantities required. For the upright frames, we need to know the height and depth. We can supply frames up to at least ten metres high, usually in 500mm increments, so let us know the exact height you need and we will supply suitable frames. Standard depths are 900mm or 1100mm, but other sizes are always available on request.

For the horizontal beams, the most common way to describe their size is the clear entry measurement, which is the space between the upright frames are in place. We always have a wide range of beam sizes in stock for most leading manufacturers, so let us know if you are adding levels to existing bays and so need exactly the same size as your existing beams. Beams also have a range of loading capacities, so we will ask you for the maximum weight that you would put on a pair of beams and then we can supply racking that will take at least this amount.

Longspan shelving and heavy duty, hand loaded warehouse storage

If you have boxes of stock or other non-palletised items to store in your warehouse, there are a number of heavy duty shelving options for you to consider.

Our longspan shelving is always a very popular hand loaded storage option due to its strength, simplicity and versatility. Whether you need a small single bay to fit in a spare corner or multiple runs of five metre high archive storage, we can find a solution for you using this shelving system. Simply let us know the dimension of the space you need to fill, and the size of the items you will be storing, and we will help you to plan a layout that makes best use of your storage capabilities.

This warehouse storage system comes with everything you need. The upright frames are supplied assembled, with footplates attached and including levelling plates and fixing bolts to secure it to a concrete floor. Each shelving level comes with horizontal beams (with beam locks), chipboard shelving and support bars to ensure the maximum load capacity can be achieved. 430kg (uniformly distributed load) is the minimum each shelf will take, making this shelving suitable for almost every hand loaded storage scenario. Drop over steel shelves are available for food storage or where regular cleaning is required, and we can also supply garment rails for this type of shelving.

If you’ve got some really heavy non-palletised items, or just need to add picking levels to your existing bays, we can also supply used pallet racking with timber or wire mesh decking levels that can take up to 3 tonnes (uniformly distributed load).

As well as this, we have a range of bolted and boltless shelving options available for smaller areas, but still with load capacities of up to 400kg.

Completing your used pallet racking installation

If you know the sizes and quantities of the used pallet racking that you are looking for, you may think that you are ready to order. But there are a number of other important components to consider which will help to make sure that your warehouse racking is safe, secure and fit for purpose.

If your pallets are old and likely to sag, or you just want some re-assurance that they will safely take the weight of whatever you are storing, then pallet support bars are a simple and effective way to help keep your goods secure. We have support bars in stock at the standard depths of 900mm and 1100mm but we can supply for other frame depths on request.

Timber or wire mesh decking can also be used to support your pallets, but these options are also useful to provide a strong shelf for non-palletised items. They are easy to install and stay firmly in place without the risk sagging which may come with chipboard decking. Again, we have standard depths (900mm and 1100mm) in stock but we can supply decking to fit almost any pallet racking configuration.

Column guards are a relatively cheap way to avoid dangerous and expensive damage to your racking uprights from forklift collisions. We prefer steel column guards which bolt to the floor (fixing bolts included) in front of the racking to create a “crumple zone” and reduce the risk of damage. We also have rack end barriers available in sizes to cover standard single and back to back bays of industrial racking.

Small parts, such as fixing bolts, levelling plates (shims) and beam locks are available for all leading pallet racking manufacturers (Dexion, Link 51, Apex, PSS, Redirack and many more). These can be dispatched quickly and delivered by courier.

With the current COVID-19 situation constantly evolving, USE Shelving & Racking Ltd are following all government guidelines in order to continue to operate as best we can through this difficult period. Used Link 51 pallet racking

Link 51 pallet racking is one of the most popular warehouse storage systems and we currently have huge quantities of quality used racking in stock. Standard sizes for the horizontal beams are 2700mm and 2250mm, which we have thousands of in our warehouse, but we also have or can source a wide range of sizes and load capacities. All our used warehouse racking beams are supplied with beam locks.

Upright frames are available with regular depths of 900mm or 1100mm but can be adjusted to other sizes on request, such as 450mm deep to create tyre racking bays. Link 51 pallet racking frames can be prepared at any height from 2000mm to 10000mm and beyond, let us know what you need and we will provide the right industrial racking for your business.
